today we woke up to 2 feet of snow and slush. the bus didnt run so the girls missed school...unfortunately they missed the band festival their school was hosting. isabelle had a flut duet, soph was playing the drums, and bug the clarinet. so they stayed home and vegged all day. i finally made it to work around 9:15 after the roads opened back up...justy worked hard to get the roads cleared off...his day started at 4am
tonite we made breakfast for dinner: bacon, waffles, and quiche. this is a great recipe. if you have ever been intimidated by 'quiche' this is the recipe you must try. here is the basic recipe...just doctor it up!
Basic recipe:
10 eggs
1 cup heavy cream
1 tsp thyme
one shallot, or one leak, or half onion diced and sauted in butter until really done
1 cup any kind of cheese
frozen hashbrown or old torn up bread
fresh spinache leaves or cilantro cut up
mushrooms, bell pepper, ham sauted, dates cut up,
combine the basic recipe. in a 2 quart casserole layer starting with the frozen hashbrowns, onion mixture, cheese and any other things you want in your quiche. add the egg mixture last by pouring over everything.
bake in oven at 350 degrees until done through
